OM 5451 is a high-yield, short-duration rice variety with a growing cycle of approximately 90–95 days, widely cultivated in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Developed from a cross between Jasmine 85 and OM 2490, this long-grain aromatic rice offers good resistance to pests and diseases, low lodging, and stable productivity, allowing up to three crops per year. Recognized as a national rice variety by Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture in 2011, OM 5451 fully meets export quality standards and is consistently demanded in markets such as the Philippines, Eastern Europe, and Africa. The grains are long, slender, lightly milky in color with low chalkiness. When cooked, the rice is soft, elastic, mildly fragrant, and remains tender even after cooling, making it ideal for household meals, offices, cafeterias, and large-scale catering services.
